Looks Like We'll Be At It Again!

With only a few weeks to go before the Top 10 Race Number drawing, Captain Kelly and her Fearless Co-Pilot Erin have decided that last year's Air Race Classic was too much fun not to do again.  (Though trust us, we'll do things a little differently this year!)

So, we're getting all that initial paperwork handled and will be together in Atlanta later this month for the live drawing of the top race spots.  The early birds are entered into the drawing for the first 10 numbers, which is important in a fast plane like the Wonder Chariot.  At the start of the Air Race, the airplanes are launched in numerical order a minute or two apart, and for serious competitors it's an advantage to be out in front of the pack.  Last year we were #31 of 34 airplanes, and by the time everyone got to the first fly-by airport, we were crawling up all kinds of butts in a swarm of metal and hyped up women pilots.  So for the 2009 race we got our poop in a group early enough to enter the drawing for the most premium starting spots. Obviously #1 would be sweet, but anywhere in the top 5 would be good by us!

We'll post again as things start to happen with the preparations and plans.  It's early still with the race not happening until late June, but we wanted to give you a head's-up and a chance to bookmark this blog in plenty of time!  

For now, please keep your fingers and toes crossed that we get #1 in the drawing on the 27th.  We'll post again with our gleeful results, and until then....
